Sulzer
Sulzer Ltd. is a Swiss engineering firm and manufacturer of industrial machinery and equipment founded in 1775. The company first gained international recognition for its great inventions, such as the first precision valve steam engine, Sulzer-Diesel motor, and artificial hip joints.
Today, Sulzer is a global leader in fluid engineering, providing innovative and proven industrial pumps, mixers, and aerators to pulp, paper and board, new wood-based processes, biofuels, sugar and starch, metals and mining, fertiliser, chemical processing, and water treatment industries.
Sulzer Slurry Pump Range
Sulzer offers high-quality slurry pumps for the mining, metals, and fertiliser manufacturing industries and applications dealing with abrasive fluids. The pumps’ large cross sections provide extended wearability, which can be achieved by simply adjusting internal clearances. This also helps maintain efficiency and increases component wear life, leading to minimal downtime.
The hydraulic components of Sulzer slurry pumps are mounted on a robust bearing frame and driven through a rigid overhung shaft to ensure reliability, while isolator seals protect the heavy-duty bearings.
Features
- Optimised hydraulic design delivers superior performance
- High-efficiency impellers and volute casing
- Wide range of high-quality materials for extended wearability
- Low spare part costs due to interchangeability between models
- Heavy-duty bearings ensure operational reliability
Industrial Slurry Pump
The horizontal slurry pump is centrifugal in type. Driven by a motor to start operation, the slurry enters the pump chamber through the feed port and is centrifuged inside the casing. The heavy-duty impeller pushes the slurry out to the discharge line.
Range
- Sulzer EMV Slurry Pumps
- Sulzer PLR Slurry Pumps
Sulzer Dewatering Pump Range
Sulzer’s complete range of submersible dewatering pumps meets the most challenging applications in various industries.
With over 50 years of technical expertise and real-world experience, these pumps are your best insurance against unexpected downtime.
Features
- Most comprehensive range of drainage pumps, covering all dewatering needs
- Powered by high-efficiency motors for less energy consumption and environmental impact
- Designed for serviceability
- Durable mechanical seals and impellers for lasting reliability
- Field-tested technology
Sulzer dewatering pumps are submersible centrifugal in type and are used to remove water collected in construction sites, tunnels, and mines. They suck the dirty water – which is circulated in the casing by the impeller – and later discharged to a wellpoint system or open sump. Depending on the type of water, a dewatering pump may use strainers to remove abrasives from the groundwater before being processed. A dewatering sludge pump, on the other hand, is used for moving thick, viscous fluids.
Drainage Centre-Line Pumps
Perfect for use in cramped installation areas, it can handle slightly abrasive water.
Submersible Sludge Pumps
Well-suited for pumping water that is contaminated with solids or other impurities.
Submersible Drainage Pumps
Suitable for pumping both water and contaminated water containing small amounts of abrasive particles.
Sulzer Submersible Pumps
Sulzer offers an extensive range of submersible pumps. They are robust, reliable, and powered by highefficiency motors, resulting in a lower total cost of ownership than the competition.
The Sulzer submersible pump range also boasts versatility, with applications spanning from light to medium and heavy-duty transfer of rags and solids in municipal and industrial wastewater environments.
Features
- Powered by premium efficiency IE3 motor for greater savings
- Long-term reliability and optimal operational life
- Reduced maintenance costs by field adjustments rather than off-site repair
- Excellent rag handling without blockage
- High-quality materials for durability and longevity
The operation of submersible pumps is similar to that of electric submersible centrifugal pumps. An enclosed electric motor powers the pump as the fluid’s kinetic energy rises. The fluid is subsequently lifted through the pump by this energy’s partial conversion to pressure. The design uses a vertical shaft to rotate the impellers and pressurise fluid. Using mechanical seals is necessary to prevent the electric motor from malfunctioning as the entire unit is submerged in the fluid.
