A trash pump has a rotating engine that powers a shaft that spins. Attached to the shaft is an impeller. As the impeller spins, the water is collected and pushed through the discharge line. Most trash pumps have an open or semi-open impeller design to allow solids such as rocks and twigs to pass through.

The Adaptive N-impeller and Adaptive N-hydraulic technologies are unique to Flygt N-pumps, combining a special geometry, dual-blade impeller and other patented features to achieve higher efficiency, smoother operation and more uptime than other pumps.

  1. Backswept leading edges: The N-impeller has optimised blade geometry with backswept leading edges to prevent any solid from sticking to the impeller.
  2. Relief groove: This part functions as a guide for solids for their efficient transport along the edge of the impeller vane, through the volute and out of the pump.
  3. Integrated guide pin: A pin in the insert ring that clears the centre of the impeller by pushing solids along the backswept leading edges to the periphery of the impeller.
