Blacoh

Blacoh specialises in designing and manufacturing fluid control technologies for hydraulic systems. Their most prominent solutions include pulsation dampeners, inlet stabilisers, surge suppressors, leak containment devices, and pressure relief valves.

Blacoh fluid controls are usually incorporated in systems using positive displacement pumps as they create pulsation and hydraulic shock due to the reciprocating nature of their stroking action. And where there are risks of destructive cavitation, thermal expansion, and water hammer, Blacoh devices are the must-have solutions.

Blacoh Pulsation Dampeners work by supplying an equal pressure to the pulsation supplied by the pump. The Dampener delivers this pressure during the low-pressure points of the pump’s operation, as the pressure drops between pump strokes, creating a pulsating flow. The pressure provided by the dampener decreases pressure variations, therefore producing a steady flow from your Diaphragm Pump.

Sentry Inlet Stabiliser

Blacoh Sentry™ Inlet Stabilisers are protective devices installed at the inlet of air-operated diaphragm pumps. They are engineered to balance the load on the diaphragm by accumulating fluid during suction and smoothing out pressure spikes. This ensures a consistent flow and pressure as the fluid enters the pump.

By reducing strain on the diaphragm, these stabilisers significantly enhance the pump’s efficiency and extend its diaphragm life.

  • Helps AODD pumps run more efficiently, minimising energy loss and maximising output
  • Cushions pressure spikes, reducing stress on the diaphragm and extending its life
  • Protects system components from excess stress and vibration
  • Eliminates acceleration head loss and cavitation
  • Smoothens inlet fluid flow and ensures complete pump chamber fill during suction
  • Available in chargeable and automatic air control
  • Available in plastic and metal construction

As the inlet ball valves close in an AODD pump, the fluid flow stops abruptly, causing a pressure spike known as “water hammer.” The inlet stabiliser absorbs this pressure spike along with the accompanying surge of liquid. By maintaining consistent suction pressure and flow, the inlet stabiliser helps ensure the pump operates at peak performance.

Sentinel Pressure Relief Valves

Blacoh Sentinel Pressure and Back Pressure Relief Valves are instruments for preventing siphoning and stabilising dosage rates.

Diaphragm back pressure valves are designed to enhance the performance of pumping systems by applying continuous back pressure to the system pump, while also acting as an anti-syphon valve. On the other hand, Diaphragm Pressure Relief Valves are designed to protect pumping systems from damage caused by excessive pressure, which is often the result of defective equipment or blockage in the pump line.

Diaphragm Back Pressure Valves continuously apply positive discharge pressure to the pump system to prevent siphoning. Meanwhile, Diaphragm Pressure Relief Valves start operation when the pressure in the pumping system exceeds the preset pressure of the valve.

Both diaphragms are held against the valve seat by an internal spring. Their operation is triggered when the preset pressure is exceeded. For Back Pressure Valves, the diaphragm is forced up and system fluid flows through the valve to the injection point. Meanwhile, for Pressure Relief Valves, the diaphragm is forced up and system fluid flows out of the relief port, going back to the tank or the pump suction side.

Spillstop Leak Containment

Blacoh’s SPILLSTOP leak containment technology prevents the terrible damage and health hazard that diaphragm failure may cause. A broken diaphragm leads to fluid leak through the air exhaust port, resulting in product wastage, material cleanup, and EPA reporting.

The work of SPILLSTOP is to detect leaks during their early stages and prevent costly and hazardous spills by capturing leaked products while shutting down the failing pump. A warning alarm and backup pump switchover further ensure operators are aware of the leak while preventing prolonged system downtime and enormous production losses.

  • Wide range of standard and ATEX certified models
  • Compatible with all AODD pumps with discharge sizes up to 4 inches
  • All Pneumatic, no hazardous electronics or batteries used

SPILLSTOP is a fully pneumatic device attached to the exhaust of an AODD pump. It has a sealed internal receptacle that captures the process fluid that would have spilled through the exhaust when an AODD pump’s diaphragm fails. The failed pump automatically shuts down as the contained liquid raises a float switch. SPILLSTOP devices can also be equipped with an optional warning alarm whistle and backup pump switchover. With SPILLSTOP, AODD users can improve plant safety and prevent more extensive system damage.

Hose pumps, also known as peristaltic pumps, typically create vacuum pockets at the discharge during operation. This, combined with the pump’s pulsing action, makes it challenging to stabilise the discharge flow and leads to pressure fluctuations. The SurgeShield features a dampening element that expands and contracts to absorb pressure spikes, ensuring a nearly steady flow rate.
