Tuthill Global Gear Series
Capable of tackling the most challenging high-viscosity applications, Tuthill GlobalGear® uses a robust internal gear pump design and top-quality materials to extend the pump’s life. The modular design of these pumps also decreases the usual costs needed for switching to another media, thereby also saving time and effort.
In addition, the GlobalGear® pumps are fitted with high strength parts that are easier to service and maintain than the competitor pumps.
FEATURES
- Back pull-out design for easy maintenance and repair
- Available in Cast Iron, Stainless Steel, Cast Steel versions
- Tougher gears for challenging applications
- High-viscosity, high-strength, long-lasting shaft
- Maintenance-free, robust bearing
- Easy conversion from cartridge to packing seal
PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION
An internal gear pump has two interlocking gears of different sizes rotating inside the other. The larger gear (the rotor) is an internal gear with the teeth projecting on the inside. A smaller external gear (the idler – only the rotor is driven) is mounted off-centre. This is designed to interlock with the rotor such that the gear teeth engage at one point.
Tuthill HD Series
The Heavy-Duty Series comprises high-strength circumferential piston pumps. They are resistant to abrasives and air entrainment, can withstand high and variable viscosities, and run dry without damage. The HD Series outperforms other rotary positive displacement pumps with higher differential pressure.
Because of the large pumping cavities and non-contacting design, these pumps are ideal for gently handling thin and viscous liquids and liquids containing large solids. They are designed to be easily cleaned, making them ideal for applications requiring sanitary construction.
Features
- Isolated fluid chamber for maximum pressure capability
- Heavy-duty construction provides longer life
- External bearing support for safe dry running
- Extended, sturdy shaft offers high torque capability
- Grease-lubricated double-row ball bearings
- Rugged single-lobe impellers
Principle of Operation
A hydraulic piston pump is a type of reciprocating positive displacement pump that creates high amounts of pressure to help with the flow of fluid, such as water. It is powered by a hydraulic drive mechanism that helps move the fluid down a cylindrical-shaped chamber. These reciprocating pumps have an outer diameter seal with a piston rod attachment. They work by creating pressure by distributing energy into the pumped fluid. This action results in a pressurized fluid cylinder.
Tuthill Technalfo
Tuthill’s Technaflo range of magnetically coupled external gear pumps comprises the D, T, and W pumps Series. These pumps are engineered to deliver precise and accurate flow, completely leak-free. This makes them the ideal solution for metering or dosing and circulating applications where pump life and reliability are critical.
They boast a compact and simple design with a limited number of moving parts, thus making maintenance easier. Finally, their low internal volume provides a reliable measure of liquid passing through a pump, thus achieving more accurate flow control.
Features
- ATEX approved pumps
- Sealless, leak-free design
- Compact, pulse-free, self-priming
- Metering accuracy better than 1%
- Various engineered plastics for wear parts
- Exceptional pump life and wide compatibility
Principle of Operation
An external gear pump consists of two identical, interlocking gears supported by separate shafts. Its operation is quite simple as the two external gears only need to rotate in the opposite direction. One gear is driven by a motor, which drives the second gear.
Tuthill CC Series
Tuthill CC Series of close-coupled pumps offer compactness and economy. With lots of pump performance in a relatively small space, the CC Series is ideal for package pumping skids or applications where space is limited. The CC pumps’ design eliminates the need for adapters, reducers, couplings, bases and guards, thereby allowing more significant cost savings on the maintenance of these parts.
Because of their principle of operation, internal gear pumps are exceptionally reliable and cost-effective in handling oils used in lubrication applications. They also excel at efficiently pumping water, refrigerants, and thick liquids used in circulation applications.
Features
- Compact and simple construction
- Cast iron construction for durability
- Includes carbon bushing as standard
- Ductile iron rotor and idler for strength
- Eliminates the need for bases, reducers, couplings, etc
- Long-life single Buna-N mechanical seal

Tuthill C Series
The C Series is part of Tuthill’s Lubetech range that boasts reliability over a wider range of viscosities. These internal gear pumps are precisely machined and assembled with only two moving parts. Equipped with tough parts and available with a host of customisation options, the Tuthill C Series stands out in processing, metering, and transferring duties and meet the exact needs of different industries.
Finally, the series is also available with Tuthill’s reversing feature which is an innovation that allows positive reversing action without the use of valves.
Features
- Cast iron construction for exceptional life
- Single-piece steel rotor assembly
- Consistent flow and high differential pressures
- Tighter clearances provide for a reliable measure of liquid
- Standard with O-Ring
- Case Seals
- Top Porting
Principle of Operation
Tuthill C Series cast iron pumps employ the internal gear pumping principle. There are only two moving parts. The pumping action is based on a rotor, idler gear, and a cover cast with a crescent-shaped partition. Power applied to the rotor is transmitted to the idler gear with which it meshes. The space between the outside diameter of the idler and the inside diameter of the rotor is sealed by the crescent. As the pump starts, the teeth come out of mesh, increasing the volume. This creates a partial vacuum, drawing the liquid into the pump through the suction port. The liquid fills the spaces between the teeth of the idler and the rotor and is carried past the crescent partition through the pressure side of the pump. When the teeth mesh on the pressure side, the liquid is forced from the spaces and out through the discharge port.
Tuthill L Series
Tuthill’s L Series comprises internal gear pumps known for their time-tested performance, flexible and innovative design, and gear pump engineering excellence. These pumps are cost-effective solutions for handling oils and other fluids used in lubricating equipment and systems.
The L Series pumps are precisely machined and assembled with only two moving parts, so they achieve and retain their reliability over wider viscosities compared to alternative pump designs.
Features
- Cast iron construction with steel rotor assembly
- Minimal clearances for accuracy
- High differential pressures for longer operation
- Highly versatile with many options for customization
- Standard Single
- Mechanical Seal
- Top porting
